OpenAI has announced plans to launch GPT-5, its next-generation AI model, designed to streamline its offerings by integrating multiple technologies — including the previously planned o3 model, which will no longer launch separately.
The Details:
All-in-One Model: GPT-5 eliminates the need for users to choose between models, offering a single, versatile system for various tasks.
New Capabilities: Includes voice interaction for natural conversations, a visual canvas for image-text interactions, integrated search for accurate responses, and deep research tools for complex topics.
Tiered Access:
• Free users: Unlimited chat with standard intelligence (some restrictions)
• Plus subscribers: Access to an advanced version of GPT-5
• Pro subscribers: Highest intelligence level with premium capabilities
Transition from Orion: Before GPT-5, OpenAI will release GPT-4.5 (Orion), marking its final model without self-checking reasoning abilities.

GPT-5 marks a major shift for OpenAI: one model to rule them all. By scrapping the confusing model picker, OpenAI is making AI more accessible while offering richer capabilities for power users. Meta has inked a 595-megawatt solar power deal with Zelestra in Texas, just two weeks after securing another solar contract with Engie. The company’s renewable capacity now sees a nearly 5% boost, as Meta continues its AI-driven infrastructure expansion.

New Solar Capacity: The Zelestra deal adds 595 MW, complementing the 200 MW from Engie, pushing Meta’s renewable power contracts to over 12 gigawatts
AI Expansion: Meta plans to invest $60 billion this year, primarily in data center infrastructure, to support the development of its Llama 4 AI model, a key rival to OpenAI’s closed-source models.
Balancing Power Needs: While the company eyes nuclear power (1-4 GW capacity) for long-term stability, it is relying on renewables like solar for immediate deployment.

YouTube is expanding its AI tools for Shorts by integrating Google’s Veo 2 video model into its Dream Screen feature. Now, creators can generate standalone video clips for Shorts using text prompts, adding styles, effects, and lenses. To try it, open the Shorts camera, select “Create,” and enter a prompt.
