OpenAI has announced a delay in the launch of its eagerly awaited Voice Mode for ChatGPT, initially showcased in May, due to the need for additional safety enhancements and testing.
The Details:
The rollout of the advanced voice mode, originally scheduled for late June, is now delayed until at least late July or early August. Initially, it will be available only to a select group of users.
Additional time is required to enhance the mode’s ability to detect and filter inappropriate content, ensuring a safe user experience.
The delay follows controversy surrounding the Voice Mode demo, specifically criticisms over a voice model resembling actress Scarlett Johansson, which OpenAI has denied using improperly.
While delays can be a bummer, they’re a sign that OpenAI is prioritizing safety and quality over speed. This careful approach might slow things down, but it could also mean a better, safer product in the end. It’s all about setting the stage for AI interactions that are not just cool, but also conscientious.

Nvidia has entered into an agreement to implement its AI and graphics technologies in Ooredoo’s data centers across the Middle East, marking a significant expansion in the region.
The Details:
The partnership allows Ooredoo’s clients in Qatar, Algeria, Tunisia, Oman, Kuwait, and the Maldives exclusive early access to Nvidia’s technologies.
Ooredoo plans to invest over $1 billion to enhance its data center capabilities, increasing capacity by an additional 20–25 megawatts to the existing 40 MW.
Plans also include tripling the data center capacity by the decade’s end to support broader AI application deployment.
This deal marks Nvidia’s first major implementation in the Middle East amidst U.S. export restrictions aimed at preventing Chinese access to advanced AI technologies through third countries.
Nvidia’s collaboration with Ooredoo not only enhances the telecom’s infrastructure but also strategically positions Nvidia in a crucial market, potentially reshaping the regional tech landscape and reinforcing its status as a global AI leader.
