APPLE

Apple is shaking up its AI leadership after delays in rolling out its next-gen Siri features. According to Bloomberg, Mike Rockwell, the executive behind Vision Pro, will now lead Apple’s AI and Siri division, replacing longtime AI chief John Giannandrea.
The Details:
The change follows Apple CEO Tim Cook reportedly losing confidence in Giannandrea’s ability to lead Apple’s AI transformation.
Earlier this month, Apple admitted that generative AI upgrades for Siri were taking “longer than we thought” and pushed their rollout to next year.
The internal tension reportedly came to a head during a team meeting, where senior director Robby Walker called the AI situation “ugly.”
Rockwell, known for building the Vision Pro team, will now steer Apple’s AI efforts, while his former deputy, Paule Meade, steps in to lead the Vision Pro division.
Why it matters:
Apple is feeling the pressure in the AI race, and this leadership shuffle signals a major course correction. With Google, OpenAI, and Anthropic moving fast, Apple’s next-gen Siri needs to catch up — and fast.
