OpenAI has introduced the Responses API, enabling developers to build advanced AI agents capable of browsing the web, scanning files, and automating tasks — similar to its Operator and Deep Research tools.

The Details:

Goodbye Assistants API, Hello Responses API: The new API replaces OpenAI’s Assistants API (set to sunset in 2026), offering access to the same building blocks behind OpenAI’s Operator and Deep Research tools.
Agent Components Now Available: Developers can now use GPT-4o search, GPT-4o mini search, and the Computer-Using Agent (CUA) model — the engine behind Operator — to build AI tools that browse the web, search files, or even automate keyboard and mouse actions.
Performance and Accuracy Gains: On OpenAI’s SimpleQA benchmark, GPT-4o search scores a remarkable 90% factual accuracy — outperforming even GPT-4.5. Still, hallucinations and navigational query issues remain a challenge.
Bonus Toolkit – Agents SDK: Alongside the API, OpenAI released an open-source Agents SDK for easier integration, debugging, and monitoring — a move meant to help developers scale real-world AI agent applications safely.

Google has quietly scrubbed mentions of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) from its Responsible AI and Human Centered Technology (RAI-HCT) team page — the group that oversees AI fairness, safety, and explainability research.

The Details:

References to “diverse,” “underrepresented groups,” and “equity” have been replaced with broader terms like “all” and “varied.”
The change follows similar language removals from Google’s Startups Founders Fund grant page.
This comes amid broader rollbacks of DEI programs at tech giants including Amazon, Meta, and OpenAI.
Google has also ended diversity hiring targets and is reassessing its DEI policies.
