The Details:
Model Capabilities: The Sapiens models excel in recognizing human postures, segmenting body parts, estimating depth, and determining the angle of object surfaces in images.
Data Handling: The model is pre-trained on the “Humans-300M” dataset, which includes a wide range of “in-the-wild” human images, ensuring diverse and comprehensive learning material.
Technological Innovations: These models support high-resolution image processing and work efficiently with minimal or even synthetic data, making them highly adaptable to real-world applications.
Architecture: Sapiens uses a Vision Transformers (ViT) architecture, allowing it to manage high-resolution inputs effectively. The encoder-decoder structure of the model enables detailed image feature extraction and specific task performance.
Applications: Useful in surveillance, virtual reality, and medical rehabilitation, it allows for precise analysis of human posture and movement and more.

Mistral AI has launched a new AI model named "Large 2," directly challenging the latest models from OpenAI and Meta. This release highlights a significant stride in AI capabilities, particularly in code generation and mathematical reasoning
The Details:
Large 2 features only 123 billion parameters, less than one-third the size of Llama 3.1 405B, yet it claims to outperform it in areas like code generation and math.
The model supports multilingual processing in 12 languages and 80 coding languages, making it highly versatile.
Mistral has tailored Large 2 to reduce hallucinations common in AI models, ensuring it provides accurate and relevant responses.

The app allows users to upload and listen to text content in various languages and voices. Powered by the Turbo v2.5 model, the app now features hundreds of new voices and improved text-to-speech conversion.
AI boom sends data center water use soaring
The AI boom is driving up water consumption in data centers, which use water for cooling. In Virginia, water usage at data centers increased by nearly two-thirds from 2019 to 2023. While some data centers recycle water in closed-loop systems, much of it is lost to evaporation due to the need for humidity control, especially in drier regions. This trend is considered unsustainable, with major operators like Microsoft and Google acknowledging significant water use in areas facing water stress.
New Chinese video model censors politically sensitive topics
Kuaishou’s new AI video model, Kling, launched with restrictions, censoring politically sensitive topics due to Chinese government regulations. Users can generate five-second videos, but prompts related to democracy, President Xi Jinping, or the Tiananmen Square protests are blocked. This filtering reflects China’s strict AI content rules, which may hinder AI development.
Arjun Pillai, former ZoomInfo chief data officer, launched DocketAI in August 2023, raising $15 million in a Series A round led by Mayfield and Foundation Capital. DocketAI helps non-technical salespeople with technical questions and drafting documents, enhancing efficiency without replacing sales engineers.
