Meta has announced that its Llama AI models are now available to U.S. government agencies and their contractors for national security use.
The Details:
Meta’s Llama AI models are now available to U.S. government agencies and defense contractors like Lockheed Martin, Booz Allen, and Palantir for national security projects.
This change is an exception to Meta’s policy, which previously restricted AI use for military, warfare, and nuclear purposes.
Meta will share the AI technology with the Five Eyes intelligence alliance, which includes Canada, the U.K., Australia, and New Zealand alongside the U.S.
Meta’s President of Global Affairs, Nick Clegg, stated the goal is to support U.S. and allied security interests responsibly and ethically while enhancing America’s technological leadership.
Meta’s decision to support government and military use of Llama highlights a broader trend in AI for national security, positioning the U.S. and its allies to remain competitive in global AI advancements.

Google has introduced Learn About, a new conversational tool designed for deep topic exploration and knowledge building, placing it in direct competition with AI knowledge-discovery tools like Perplexity.
The Details:
Learn About provides interactive lists, timelines, quizzes, and modules, allowing users to explore topics comprehensively and clear up any misconceptions.
With options like Go Deeper and Simplify, users can expand on a subject, attach images, and discover related questions and topics for a broader understanding.
Currently only available in the U.S., Learn About remains in its experimental phase and doesn’t yet allow users to resume past conversations.
Google’s Learn About may redefine how we interact with information on the internet, moving beyond traditional search into interactive learning. As Google refines this tool, it could shift user preferences and set new standards in AI-driven education.
