Elon Musk's AI venture, xAI, has introduced a groundbreaking update to its AI model, unveiling Grok-1.5V, which now includes visual processing capabilities. This enhancement transforms Grok into a multimodal model that can understand both text and images, positioning it at the forefront of AI technology.
The Details:
Grok-1.5V can now process a wide range of visual data including documents, diagrams, charts, screenshots, and photographs, alongside its existing textual comprehension.
xAI has developed a new benchmark called RealWorldQA to test multimodal models on their ability to understand simple real-world spatial relationships, pushing forward the practical applications of AI.
Grok-1.5V is reported to rival or surpass leading AI models like OpenAI’s GPT-4V and Google’s Gemini Pro 1.5 in tasks such as document interpretation and scientific diagram analysis.
This update is a big step towards making AI that can better understand and interact with the real world. Grok-1.5V will soon be available for early testers and current users, improving how AI assistants function in daily tech use.

Adobe is actively developing its own AI text-to-video generator, aiming to compete with leaders like OpenAI’, Sora. To train its AI, Adobe is collecting videos from its network of photographers and artists, offering $120 for clips that capture a range of human activities and emotions.
The Details:
Adobe seeks over 100 clips that illustrate everyday activities, emotional expressions, and detailed shots of anatomical features like hands and eyes.
Contributors are paid roughly $2.62 per minute for their videos, though this rate can go up to about $7.25 per minute depending on the video’s complexity and length.
Over the past year, Adobe has been integrating generative AI into products like Photoshop and Illustrator, enhancing these with capabilities to generate images and illustrations from text. With the new focus on video, Adobe aims to expand these AI features.
Adobe plans to reveal more about its video generation technology later this year, reflecting its commitment to staying at the forefront of creative software development amidst evolving AI technologies.
