Anthropic, the startup with Google's backing and hefty venture capital, just launched the newest version of its GenAI technology, Claude 3. They're making bold claims that this tech outperforms OpenAI's GPT-4!

Claude 3 isn't just one, but a family of models including Claude 3 Haiku, Sonnet, and the most powerful, Opus. Each version promises enhanced capabilities in analysis, forecasting, and specific benchmarks, setting new standards against rivals like ChatGPT, GPT-4, and even Google's own Gemini.

But here's a twist - Claude 3 is Anthropic's first attempt at a multimodal GenAI, capable of understanding both text and images. Whether it's photos, charts, or technical diagrams, Claude 3 is designed to analyze up to 20 images in a single go, though it steers clear of identifying people for ethical reasons.

Despite its strengths, Anthropic acknowledges Claude 3's limitations with low-quality images and tasks like spatial reasoning. And for now, it won't venture into generating artwork.

Claude 3 promises more expressive responses and a knack for following multi-step instructions across various languages, setting a new bar for user-friendly AI interactions. With a massive context window support, Claude 3 is geared to remember and engage in detailed discussions, much like its high-end competitors.

Apple's grand vision for its own car, known as Project Titan, has come to a halt after a decade of exploration. The tech giant is now steering its resources toward the bustling field of generative artificial intelligence (AI), a move reflecting the shifting priorities in the tech landscape. While the car project showcased Apple's ambition, the pivot to AI signals a strategic alignment with the current tech trend, where AI's potential is rapidly expanding.

With generative AI setting the tech world abuzz, Apple is playing catch-up, despite its financial might. The company, renowned for its innovation, is adjusting its sails to compete in an AI-driven future, acknowledging the intense competition and high costs associated with AI development. Apple's financial resilience, with a staggering $107 billion in free cash flow last year and nearly $65 billion in cash reserves, underscores its capability to pursue such transformative projects.

However, Apple faces a challenging road ahead in AI, marked by the high demand for crucial components and the advanced data center networks established by rivals.
