OpenAI is reportedly planning to significantly increase the price of its subscription services for the upcoming AI model, “Strawberry” (also called GPT-Next), with a potential jump from $20 per month for ChatGPT Plus to as high as $2000 per month.
The Details:
Price Hike: The new subscription for the next-gen Strawberry model could reach $2000 per month, far above the current $20 monthly ChatGPT Plus plan.
Advanced Reasoning: Strawberry features “System 2 thinking,” allowing the AI to think and reason through problems, improving performance on complex tasks like math, where it scores over 90% on the MATH benchmark.
Better Training Data: Strawberry can generate high-quality synthetic training data, addressing the shortage of diverse datasets needed for AI training.
Huge Performance Boost: OpenAI claims Strawberry will be 100x more powerful than GPT-4, thanks to better optimization, without requiring additional hardware.
OpenAI’s potential price hike reflects the advanced capabilities of its upcoming Strawberry model. With major improvements in problem-solving and data generation, Strawberry could revolutionize AI, but at a significantly higher cost for users.

Meta scrapes data from Australian users
Meta’s Global Privacy Director, Melinda Claybaugh, revealed that Meta has been collecting public posts from Australian users since 2007 for AI training purposes, with no option to opt-out. Unlike users in the European Union, Australians cannot prevent their data from being used for this purpose. Additionally, concerns have been raised as public photos from children’s accounts could also be included in the data scraping, highlighting privacy issues in Australia.
Google’s GenAI under European privacy scrutiny
Ireland’s Data Protection Commission is investigating Google’s use of personal data to train its AI models, focusing on compliance with the EU’s GDPR. The inquiry will assess whether Google conducted the required impact assessment for AI-related risks. If violations are found, Google could face significant fines.
Amazon lets Audible narrators clone themselves with AI
Amazon is testing AI-generated voice clones for Audible narrators to speed up audiobook production. Narrators will submit voice recordings to create AI replicas, which they can control for future projects. They will earn royalties on a title-by-title basis, but concerns exist about how this could affect job opportunities for human performers.
Google is now offering its Gemini Live voice chat mode to all Android users for free. Accessible via the Gemini app or overlay, users can ask questions aloud and select different voices.
